"Older Posts"

There is this little link at the bottom of my blog (and everyone else's) that says "older posts"...since I procrastinate my blogging like crazy you almost always have to click on that link to see everything new. It has caused some confusion lately, so I thought I'd just put it out there...

San Francisco - Day 1 - Sept. 10th

As soon as we got to SF, we dropped our luggage off and went looking for food. We had absolutely no idea where we were, where we were going or where to eat. Luckily we happened upon this super yummy place in the Ferry Building on Pier 1. These were the best nachos I've ever eaten! Pork nachos, on top of a tortilla, smothered in cheese, guacamole, pico and STRAIGHT UP CREAM! Yeah, that's right! They don't mess around with sour cream. Oh no, they go right for the hard stuff! And, don't forget my Mexican Coke! (It said that right on their menu!)

And, on top of that...this was our view while we ate outside (in perfect weather, I might add)!

We made our way to Pier 39 (Fisherman's Wharf)...after walking a few miles first. :)

Chris is so cute! He saw this giant Spongebob and made a bee line for it. He had to get a picture for the Mase-man!

The fog was unreal. It looked like a special effect, like we were in a movie. :)

I had no idea about these sea lions! We walked around the corner and heard them barking. I was surprised to see them so close!

I was instantly in love with them and wanted to watch them all day!

We watched these street performers for a while, they were the best I've ever seen! This guy did a flip over 2 tall guys! (2 tall "WHITE" guys as he called them!)

And this guy was nice enough to take a picture with me. I wanted to show how awesome his gold grill was, but you can't really see it in the picture. Oh well, I would have given him 5 bucks either way. :)

We got tired of walking really fast, so we hopped on a double decker tour bus and went to see the city!

It was amazing! I thought we'd be disappointed after going to Boston and NY several times, but we weren't! San Francisco is just as amazing...in a different way.

It is such a beautiful city! (Something NY really isn't. Not even Boston so much.)

I loved all of the cables overhead. The cable cars and trolleys were cool, but highly overrated for actually riding on.

We drove across the bridge and back. Seems like a good idea until the bus starts picking up speed and you're on top of a double decker tour bus. The wind was FREEZING on the bridge!

The glare is really bad, but this is the view out west off of the Golden Gate Bridge.

We had a great view of the sea lions while we ate our dinner at the Wipeout Grill.

And this view ain't to shabby either! Pulled pork with coleslaw and a side of garlic fries! I love you already San Francisco!!

San Francisco - Day 2 - Sept. 11th

Chris wanted me to take his picture in front of the Coliseum while we were waitng for the train. Too bad he is just a stalker...I mean shadow. :)

We had THE best Chinese food ever! We wished we could have gone back a second time!

This is JR, Chris' cousin who lives by SF. He was our personal tour guide for the day! It was so great! (They're really not holding hands, but I teased them about this picture all day.) The road behind them is SO steep it has steps instead of a sidewalk!

Ah, Chinatown Restaurant! Don't let the name fool ya...it's much better than it sounds!

We had fun in Chinatown but I think I was expecting it to be more like Chinatown in NY. TOTALLY not the same kind of place! :)

Lombard St. (a.k.a. The Crookedest St. in the World)...it was one of the things I really wanted to see but we didn't have a car the first day we were there. Luckily JR drove into town so we could go see it! It did not disappoint! :)

SERIOUSLY AMAZING!!

JR showed us around the city and then took us to the Marin Headlands and the Redlands. It was breathtakingly beautiful! This is looking out on the fog, which was also incredible!

So pretty up there and such a great view!

We went to the A's vs. Red Sox game (which was really why we went there in the first place). We also went the night before but I didn't take a single picture!

I think this should be our wedding announcement picture! :)

The weather was fantastic while we were there!

This was just after the "Moment of Silence" since it was, after all, 9-11. A major league baseball game is the perfect place to be on that kind of a day!

They had military men (and probably women too) in uniform on the field for the National Anthem. It was also "firefighter night" at the game and there were all kinds of firemen there...young and old. It made me so proud to be an American!

For the 7th inning stretch they did "God Bless America" along with "Take me out to the ballgame".

It was so perfect!

The game was actually a good one (much better than the night before)! This is Big Papi up to bat with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th...down by 1, runner on 2nd...

...too bad he struck out!

This is my childhood bff, Annie! I need to do a whole blog post about the story behind it all. She moved to England when we were 13. We didn't really keep in touch until we both got on facebook. Last Saturday, after not seeing each other for 20 years, I popped in at her parents' 40th anniversary party. It was so great to reconnect! I told her we'd be in SF the next week and that we should get together. (She lives about 20 minutes away from our hotel) SO, after much planning and coordinating, we were able to meet up for ice cream after the game! It was so much fun to see her twice in 2 weeks, in 2 different cities, after waiting so long! :)

JR didn't seem to mind being the 5th wheel and it was fun having him around. He refused to put his hands down, as to avoid looking like he was holding hands with anyone. I was trying to make him look like he was really in the picture. :) It was so nice of him to drag us all over the city and back! He made our trip so fun!
